Important Rituals

This egret comes back to Dew Drop Pond every year. Sometimes there is a mate, sometimes not. This one has been around for at least five years. I named him Charlie.

Every year we have a contest to see what happens first, he flies away or I get a good photo. Usually, he flies away. Its our little ritual. He sees me, he flies away, but only if I have my camera.

Ritual is important, even for a bird. Maybe, especially if you are a bird.

About stopping and looking out the window

I forget I have this great window in my office, so much that I forget to look out.

Today, though, I looked just as the fog started to rise from the pond. I grabbed my camera and forgot to change my shoes. It was so pretty watching the fog take over. I am really excited by the possiblity of a foggy sunrise tomorrow.

If I am a really good girl, and if it gets cold enough tonight, there might be fog-frosted trees in the morning!

(Note to self:  when going out on a sodden, rainy day where feet of snow just melted, you shouldn't wear crocs with holes)
